Mohammed Leathers traces
At Mohammed Leathers, craftsmanship runs deep. As a fifth-generation business, our story is one of tradition, transformation, and enduring quality. For three generations, our forefathers mastered the East India tanning process, building a reputation rooted in skill and integrity. In the fourth generation, my father and uncle incorporated chrome tanning, pushing the boundaries of innovation to meet the demands of a changing market.
In 2017, Mohammed Hamith, carried that legacy forward by expanding into finished leather manufacturing. With in-house access to both raw and wet-blue skins, we produce premium finished leather for the footwear, garment, upholstery, and leather goods industries across India—and export to six countries worldwide.
Every product we craft is tailored to our customers’ unique requirements, backed by an unwavering commitment to quality, consistency, and ethical practices. Our leather is proudly sourced from our sister company, Abdul Gani Leathers, certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG)—ensuring a supply chain that is both transparent and environmentally responsible.

How We Work
At Mohammed Leathers, every step of our leather-making process reflects precision, expertise, and a commitment to quality. Here’s how we transform raw hides into premium finished leather

Beam House
The journey begins with raw hides, which undergo a series of preparatory steps including soaking, liming, fleshing, re-liming, and pickling—ensuring the hides are thoroughly cleaned, conditioned, and ready for tanning.

Tanning
Using the chrome tanning method, we convert the prepared hides into wet blue leather, known for its strength, flexibility, and durability.

Dyeing
The wet blue leather then proceeds through samming, splitting, shaving, re-tanning, setting, and hooking. These steps refine the leather’s texture, thickness, and colour, preparing it for the final finish.

Finishing
In the final stage, the leather is custom-finished to meet the specific requirements of our clients—whether for footwear, garments, upholstery, or leather goods. Every batch is tailored for appearance, durability, and functionality, ensuring it performs perfectly in its intended use.
